I have two hard drives installed, both SATA, 7200 RPM, 8mb cache, neither less than 160gb.

Would there be any noticeable performance gains if I were to run ONLY the OS (Windows Vista Home) on one drive and ONLY programs on the other?

Any info would be great, and thanks in advance.:)

You'd have a pain in the ass if you ever had to format your OS partition. Shortcuts, registry, etc. Reinstall progs anyway. Not worth it if there is a gain.

Ok so the consensus thus far seems to be "no" on the performance gain issue, and thanks for the answers so far.

Is there anything I can do with this second drive to increase performance at all? Or at least have efficiency levels up?

put your swap file on the second drive if it is smaller and your media and other long term storage if it is larger than your other drive.
