I was at walmart looking for hybrid fluorescent lamps when I found daylight fluorescents made by Lights of America for less than $5 each. They have a color temperature of 6500K and make everything look real nice. My Alps printer, for example, has a nice looking case but soft white (yellow orange) lights weren't showing it off.
The model you're looking for is 2220-65K
They are in a blue (as opposed to the usual green and yellow) package that says SUNLIGHT at the top in big white letters
20 watts, 75 equiv, 1150 lumens, 6000hr life
This lamp uses their FluoreX technology which is their way of saying "it's a good worklight"
Made in the USA, baby!
They start fast as hell. But most of these things do that new.
These allowed me to get the Alps printer calibrated properly.
Also worth mentioning: If you find you get cranky and just generally pissed off during the winter (like me) when there's less sunlight, or you work a shift that doesn't allow you to see the sun (also like me), these help with that feeling.
