Shoould I get p4 3.2 ghz, or pentium d 3.0ghz?? Because it is 50 ore to add it to my dell, and j/w why is it better? Dual cores I know, but only 50 more? Hmmmm.. Any1 got reviews, and how much better it is than a regular 3.2ghz?? THANKS!!

And, is Pentium D 830 3.0ghz beter than amd 64 3400+ ??

well in single threaded apps the pentium D will get beat by the 3.2 GHz proc.

if you do a lot of multi-tasking or run multi-threaded programs the pentium D would be the way to go

$50 isnt a bad deal to get a dual core proc, but you wont see a performance gain, unless you do a lot of what i mentioned above
 
Which is better for gaming? I basically talk on aim, then go play a little cs. lol

And which is better, widnows xp home edition, or windows xp media center edition 2005 , dont mention pro, im not spending 150 for it, which one out of those two are better and why??

For 50$, go with the Pentium D. If you were saying a 3GHZ pentium D and a 3.4-3.6ghz Single core CPU then ide say get the single core. But in this case two cores will more than make up for 200mhz
 
But I also heard this processor has heat issues. Idk man!! but if dell is supplying it with that super geen heatisnk thing, i dont think id have a problem, but i heard the dual core pentium d aint nothing sspecial!!

the thing is you would have to go with xp pro, or you would only be able to use one core(someone correct me if im wrong)
 
I doubt dell will sell me a dual processor with a O/S that can't handle it!
 
I just called dell and they said windows xp home edition most certainly supports pentium d dual cores.

Maybe in service pack 2 or somehting they fixed it.. Cuz too many people have home edition for it not to be supported..
