Hey guys i am deciding to a get a Intel Pentium 630 3Ghz LGA775, am i correct that his CPU is 64Bit, and what chipset is required for this mother board can a 915P chipset be used with this motherboard? And can i used this motherboard with this CPU will it be Compatable, the motherboard is a Giga-Byte 8I915P Duo Pro>
 
I'm using a 640 (3.2 GHz) chip on a 915 chipset board (see sig for details). I had some performance issues until I got a new BIOS update, but it works with no problems.

I've been running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition RC2 for some time now. :D
 
Oh i see btw nice Sig you got there, i should have got a 630 in the first place but i got a 540, so right now i am building a 64bit compiter to run window XP 64bit and longhorn in the future, so i need is to update the BIOS to get the maximum performance from the CPU?
 
I needed to for mine. Your motherboard may handle it better.

My wife's computer has a 478 Northwood (also 3.2 GHz) and she has very good performance on her machine as well. Until software and hardware drivers start to come out for x64 it's still a little premature to jump entirely into the 64-bit market, IMO. Then again, I did spend extra buying a 640, so who am I fooling? ;)

Yeah but i am staying with window Xp pro for at leaste another 6month.
 
If I was building a system today, I'd build it with a 630 and 915/925..... (nforce 4 or 955 if they were out)

Just to have the 64-bit hardware ready.... so in a year or so from now when Win64 has been out for a little while and drivers are up to par, etc... I can upgrade smoothly. I remember back when Win98 was faster... then Win2000/XP finally caught up (speed wise for gaming)

Granted XP/2000 has always been SO MUCH MORE STABLE! But I held off a little while for XP SP1, etc.. Just like I'll probably stick with WinXP home SP2 for a while until Win64 matures, etc..

P.S. I'm not building a system now, b/c I'm going to wait until 955's & nForce4's have been out for 2-3 months.
