Penryn release?

I was just going to start a thread on a similar topic -

I've got my RAM/case/PS

Was probably going to get a Abit P35-Pro board (RAM is Ballistix DDR2) -

I havent been on the boards in a month or so and I had forgot if we might be close to the new releases - if they were months away was going to go Q6600, but if its just a matter of a week or so then I'd wait...

Anyone else have a good feel on this situation?

Well, the new Toshiba's are coming with Penryn chips... I just called toshibadirect and they've got the laptop's in stock...

Not sure if you can buy them retail yet though.

Offtopic tangentally - but in regards to my original post:

Just read this thread http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1270893

Now I'm thinking maybe not the Abit - really don't need that problem.

What is the expected improvment from teh Q6600 for the refreshed Penryns?

Last I read it was 5-8% per improvement at the same frequency - anyone know if this is still the case?

i would say you can probably pick these guys up around the end of this month.

yeah, I also noticed alot of people's old rigs being sold as well.. I guess either in anticipation or just to save up money.
