Pedestal Server Chassis Recommendations

So as of right now, I have an Antec 300 being utilized as my file server chassis. It has done a marvellous job at keeping all the hardware cool, but it is time to put it to pasture. I want something with true hot-swap capability, 6 x 3.5" support, and shouldn't break the bank ($300+). It doesn't need to have a power supply.

Are there are chassis that you recommend? I've looked at a few SuperMicro's and a few Antec's, but god they are pricey. I looked at the Titan and didn't like it.

Not fully sure about it's quality, but the Lian Li PC-Z70B could be interesting for you. It has more than 6 hot-swap places for 3.5" , but no seperate LED's for HDD Activity or failures. Before accessing the HDD's, you need to remove the front panel.

Alternative and even cheaper could be Lian Li A76X with additional SATA3 backplanes, are available as accessories. It has half hot-swap capabilities, as you have to remove the side door.

Personally I'd be more in favor of a refined living-room-compatible Server case like SuperChassis 747 (with real hot-swap, LED's and Front Door) from SuperMicro, but that seems very hard to find, has no eSATA and USB3.
If anyone knows an alternative to the SuperChassis 747 please let us know here.

I was looking at the SC742/743, but as you said, they are hard to find. The Lian Li doesn't have what I am looking for, a front loading hot-swap design.

I may answered my own question. I found the Chenbro SR107 online, but now it will be tricky to find an online retailer that has them.

Ah, looks good, but be sure the backplanes are in the package.....most distributors I saw sold them separately.

The hot-swap cages for the SR10769 is a separate purchase, they're like 60 bucks.

But the SR107 comes with fixed bays already, correct? I can just use the fix bays till I get the the hot-swap cages.

yes it does, they actually have little trays you put the drives in. Annoying thing is you have to take the cage out to put in the drives.
