I have an old low profile computer that I want to install a 12V 120mm TriCool fan on. Problem is, the only molex connector is on the hard drive. I don't want to take my chances and split the power between hard drive and 12V fan so I'm trying to find alternate means.

Only solution I can think of is by drawing power from either the AGP or PCI slots. I can't find anywhere that sells something like this. My last resort now would be to use some electrical engineering and hook something up myself. Any thoughts?

What do you mean only 1 12V rail, you mean by the power supply? The power supply also sends power through the motherboard, powering AGP and PCI slots. I want to harness that power since I have no other options.

Ok, I just looked at the power supply. It only supplies 100W. The 12V rail has only 1.5A rating. I have inside, a Seagate 7200.7, which according to datasheets, requires 2.8A. The drive has worked fine for months inside, why is that?
