I noticed that they had released a PCI-Express X-Fi and was one step away from buying one when I noticed that it was an XtremeAudio. I remember when the PCI version of that card was released, and the talk about how it is really an older audigy chip rebranded as X-Fi. Looking at the tiny size of the chip on the PCI-E XtremeAudio I have to imagine it is also the case.
I'd like to replace my PCI Audigy2 ZS so that I can put my PhysX card back in my system. Currently my 3 PCI slots are occupied by my Audigy2ZS (For games) which has it's digital output looped into the digital input of my EMU 0404 which has a much better DAC. The 3rd slot is for my Adaptec SCSI card.
Does anyone know if there are any *real* X-Fi cards for PCI-Express?
