Hey, whats up, i have one gig of PC2100 DDR-Ram because thats all my old mother board supported. I just upgraded motherboards to an ABIT IC7-G. I want to add faster memory, but i have heard that if i put 512MB of 3200 that it will only go the speed of 2100 memory if the 2100 memory is installed. Is this true?

Thanks

Mixing different memory speeds at the same time is a no no. Just keep the PC3200 in and put the old stuff in storage.

Yes, this is true. The bus for the memory will only run as fast as your slowest ram. (a.k.a. 2100)

You'll just have to buy 2x512MB of PC3200 for your Pentium 4 setup. You can get Mushkin PC3200 or PC3500 for around $210-220 at newegg. You'll want two sticks do you can run dual channel.
