i am trying to upgrade my hd, but am having some issues. i am working on the pc in my sig plus a new 120GB WD 8MB 7200RPM IDE hard drive.
ever since i put the drive in, my bios posts are taking forever. "detecting ide drives" takes about 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds on the following screen. i have the bios detect the drive and still the same. it is set up for primary master with a single dvd rw as the secondary master. if i put the old 40gb hd back in, it boots up normally.
so, i installed win xp pro anyhow but now i have to set my primary boot drive to the cdrom instead of the hd0 b/c i get a "disk boot failure" when set to hd0. if i set the primary to cdrom, the secondary, tertiary, etc to none it boots to windows...
when in windows, i get only a default vga card and no monitor detected. on the old hd, win xp detects the 9600xt and nex monitor...
any help on this is greatly appreciated.
regards,
steve
