PC Driven Car Stereo....Ideas...

Thinking of a little PC project....install a PC in my truck to replace the stereo (and stay totally hidden)...have a 10GB HD and an SB Live and 1 CDROM, 13" monitor collecting dust and thinking how (if possible to hook up) it would sound. I am sick of all the stereo equipment NOT offering ANY effects like Hall, or Arena or even surround options....plus you could load the HD FULL of MP3's...

Any thoughts?

There have been lots of car mods done in the past. Some fairly expensive with some crazy interfaces with touch-screen LCD's and stuff.

I always thought that doing a more simplified approach, but there's lots of problems ya run into, like power converters, interface components, etc.

A long project, but try to be creative

When i first read the title, I thought you meant a car you could drive with your PC, that'd be crazy, but then I read the rest of it and was disappointed. Anyways, just be creative, and try to cover up any mistakes you make.
