Hi, all.

I passed through my controller (lsi2008-based) to a windows 2008r2 server and can't seem to find a way to monitor my temperatures. The various programs I've tried don't recognize any drives and/or tell me that it can't monitor SMART because it is a vm.

Any suggestions?

Edit: host OS is esxi 5.1.

Since you want to use Server 2008 as the OS, use HD Sentinel which supports LSI2008 based HBAs for SMART pass-through and allows you to set temp alerts via alarm or email.

Ended up going the smartmontools route and it worked like a charm. Thanks staticlag, mikehunt and mwroobel.
