Just got a new drive and wanted to partition it for OS and storage. 320GB drive.

Is a 80GB partition overkill for OS, games, and apps? The rest of the 240GB would be for storage, along with another 120GB drive for storing stuff.

Currently my OS drive with apps only is using around 16GB. Games take up another 16GB currently.

I think i said it wrong. I currently use 40GB and have a 320GB drive for my os, game, apps. I know I need to leave space for my swap files but would 80GB be too much? Could I take it down to 60 and it be enough for windows run fast, have enough space for temp files etc. I will not be using more than the 40GB for my system files also.

I use 30GB for Windows and Apps and a seperate partition for games and yet another partition for storage.

80 isn't technically too much, but neither is 300.
If you're doing okay with 40, why not stick with 40?

an important thing to remember is that you'll need 15% of free space if you are using the windows defragger.
