guys,

I'm starting on the painting phase of my case mod (the Lakeside PC thread...which hasn't been updated yet)...

I've got an airbrush on the way (i used to use one a long time ago....had to sell back then due to a change in work) and I'm looking to find out what kind of paint to use.

I've been trying to find a pearl blue metallic by duplicolour, but...not getting lucky...the inside will prolly be primer gray, but...again, i've gotta find paint.

any of you more experienced people know of a good source for case paint?

cheers,

dave

any particular brand? my medium is stainless steel and i want to make sure that everything is kosher. :)

any recommendations for surface prep? it's bare steel right now with no powder coat or clear coat.

cheers,

dave

Ummm...Im not a pro...But I would maybe light sand (with a fine paper, maybe wet sand) it to get something for the primer to grab. As for for brand, whatever you do buy everything by the same brand, Primer, base coat and clear coat. That way you dont have to worry about paints not liking each other. I would go with a Metal paint. Either automotiveish or anything with a Rust coat preventitive (Itll say rust coat, or get something like Rustoleum...)

Im currently undertaking my first mod....If I can get my digi to work Im gonna start it this Tuesday, Look for it. Itll be tited Noob Mod: WW2 Airborne Features will hopefully include:

Custom Paint- OD Green
Custom Window W/ Etching
Custom Graphics
and when I get them CC Lights!! Woot.....if it turns out well Ill put the componants in my sig into it....

Hope you enjoy. Last time I looked they had a huge selection of paints/pearls/kandys.
I think what you want is some etching primer, to grip to the steel. If you were just thinking of buying a spray can of pearl, I dont think they exist, but if you find one let me know will you ;), i wouldnt mind having some.

nice, i like that site.

cheers,

dave
