p4p800-dx + winamp = no go

i just got the p4p800-dx, nicely setup and everything running nice

so i setup my 4 speakers, run the test, works fine

i open up winamp (2.91 and 5) and neither of them got the rear speakers to work

so i open up cod, rear speakers work fine

i open up windown media player, rear speakers work fine as well

any clue how to get my rear speakers working in winamp? thats my main audio player and i hate to lose surround sound.....

edit: im using onboard sound w/ soundmax software installed
 
In Winamp, Preferences, Plugins/Output Double-click DirectSound Output. Enable the option for "Allow Hardware Acceleration" Click Apply and then OK.



Do the rear speakers work now?

what would it be that would stop you from being able to check the "Allow Hardware Acceleration" box? I have a similar setup with a Soltek board and a 4.1 system....
