Hi all

Looking at the Asus website, and the manual, I can't figure out if my P4C800E will support the P4 3.0 with 1MB cache. The manual seems to suggest support for only 512KB cache... also, I think the P4 3.0 with 1MB needs 1.4V, and I don't think this motherboard goes that low...

Any advice is appreciated!

I've just checked the Asus website, and your P4C800-E Deluxe will support the 3.0GHz P4 with 1MB cache (aka the 3.0E GHz Prescott P4), as long as you have BIOS version 1016 or higher. If it's any lower than 1016, please flash the BIOS using the AMIFLASH utility built into the BIOS (check the manual for which key combination to press to access the BIOS-resident utility program, and you'll need the extracted BIOS file on a floppy disk) or in DOS (using a bootable floppy) to at least 1016 before running Windows with that P4 3.0 with 1MB cache on that mobo. (Note that the P4P800 and P4C800 series use an AMIBIOS rather than a Phoenix/AwardBIOS that we're accustomed to seeing on Asus motherboards.)

Thanks! I just found the "supported CPU" sheet myself. What about the voltage settings though???

The 1.4V that a Prescott 3.0E needs will be the default setting when the correct BIOS version is flashed. The manual voltage range will depend on which generation of P4 processor is installed.

REALLY? So setting it to AUTO may provide a voltage option that ISN'T listed in the manual settings?
