P4B 3.06Ghz and hyperthreading

I have a 2.4B right now and an IT7max2v2 board.

I don't have much cash to spend so I'm thinking of just getting a P4 3.06Ghz (still available at some shops).

If I do get that CPU, must I reinstall OS to get hyperthreading? Or is it like plug and play?

nope you should be ok with just switching the chips.

It should be plug and play. Unlike mobos, there are no drivers or anything install for a CPU.

I went from a 2.4b to a 2.6c and WinXP automatically recognized the new chip and showed hyperthreading enabled in the task manager.
