Hey Everyone
Looking for alittle advise on overclocking, figured this would be the best place to come too.
i'll start with my system set-up, I have a
P4 3.2E (prescott) 1mb Cache Being Cooled by a Thermalright-XP-120 heatsink with a 120mm Panaflow high output 103cfm Fan
Abit- IC7 Mobo
2X 512mb Of Kingston Hyper X PC4000 Ram running in dual channel
BFG Geforce 6800GT (overclocked to 420mhz core and 1140mhz mem )
Standard Maxtor 80gb drive with the 8meg cache
Plextor PX-708A DVD Writer
Antec 430watt Power Supply
I currently have the fsb running at 232 mhz from factory 200mhz giving me a speed of 3.71 mhz, everything seems to be running stable, Ive ran benchmarks like 3dmark01 (22,168), 3dmark03 (13,009), Aquamark (69,196) and PCMark04 (5693), Iv'e also been playing games like Doom 3, CS Source, Farcry, and its been stable. I also looped 3dmark 01 for about 3 hrs and it was fine.
The Case has plentey of Cooling theres 2- 120mm Panaflow Fans, 4- 80mm Fans and 2 60mm fans, not including the 120mm fan on the heatsink, that would make it a total of 3 120mm fans. The system temperture while im typing this is at 24 Degrees C, never goes about 30 degrees C even when playing games.
When I first got the processor about a week ago, I had over clocked it to about 3.3 mhz with the factory intel heatsink and the temperture would rise to about 70 degress C... .I just recently recieved the New Thermalright-XP-120 heatsink and 120mm fan and now my temp while typing this is at 48 degrees C, never seen it go past 61 degrees C (While playing games) and this is now over clocekd to 3.7 unlike the 3.3 on factory heatsing So its Definaltly cooler. i have not messed with any voltages, all of them are at default.
I guess my question is, would it be ok for my to leave it running at 3.7, is that overdoing it, or would it be safe to even try and get alittle higher (personally I would like to get alittle higher ) i just thought I would get you guys advise first, Thx for your time and sorry for the long post, tried to get all the details in oh yeah im running windows Xp pro SP2, nvidia 6177 drivers.
