P4 Hsf + 9800xt..

I have an ATi Radeon 9800XT, and I recently installed an SP-94 on my P4, so I'm left with the stock HSF.

I've seen a PIII HSF modded to 9800XT, but what about a P4 HSF? I only have 1 PCI slot being used, so I have room to spare. Would this really make a difference?

I'm concered that the back of the card wouldn't have an type of heatsink on it, only the core. I guess I'd need to get some ramsinks.

My other concern is the weight of the HSF... I don't want it bending the card.

Should I do this, or is it just not worth it?

youd definatly get better cooling, but who knows how much better OC you can get
 
go for it... just plan ahead. i tried mounting my AMD hsf on my 9000Pro and snapped a drillbit in my heatsink, and broke the fan it came with. dammit... i cut up a p2 heatsink and screwed that on, so the card still works. although i need to voltmod it to increase stability at high overclocks. also, if you're worried about the card bending, put a wire or string holding up the end where the power connector goes to keep it from bending:D but i don't think that it will weigh enough to bend the card noticably.
 
What would be the best way to put the HSF on the card, because it doesn't match the holes for the cards stock HSF. I was thinking of marking where the holes would need to be on the HSF, and drilling holes in it, but they'd have to be threaded...

ew no, TA wouldnt hold nearly well enough. Drill the holes, choose a bit just a tiny tiny bit smaller than the bolt youll be using, drill all the way through, and bolt the heatsink on

I'll look into it... maybe post some pics of the process if I decide to do it..
