Ok I have an IC7-MAX3..... I was going to buy a 2.8E but after doing some reading would I be better off with a 2.8c or like a 2.4c? I am looking to buy tonight so help is appreciated.

Just get a 2.8C. Stay away from E's. If you are looking seriously into overclocking, get a 3.0C and do your homework about steppings etc.

all there cpus are labled e cores but you have to look at the cache the ones that are 512k cache are the c cores the ons that say 1 meg are the e cores. i know its confusing but i ordered the 3.0e with 512k of cache on thier site and got the sl6wk d1 steping 30 cap that does 4ghz on air

No no no. Whoever labelled a core with 512k of cache a prescott obviously made a mistake.
This is how it goesl
presscott = e = hot = long pipeline = 1mb cache = slow
northwood = c = cool = short(er) pipeline = 512k cache = fast(er)

yeah its confusing on there site but for some odd reason they label them all e. dont ask me why but they do. just look beside the chips description for the cache size 512 is a c 1meg is a e. nuclear from overclockersclub.com forums turned me onto pcsuplly source and i couldnt of been happier with my 3.0c purchase even thou it said it was a e core go figure

nuclear is a p4 guru over on our site he buys p4 cpus by the dozen and sells the ones that dont oc well. he also uses cooling from air thru phase change and everything inbetween. if you have some p4 oc issues he surely can help ya out. here is his site http://www.virtual-octane.net/ he just got it up but im sure it will grow very fast
