I'm looking to finally upgrade after 4 years with my current computer. But I'm looking for a little advice...

I'm curious what to buy. I have looked on many review websites for someone to compare different CPUs against the FSB. Maybe I am missing it or something...

Which is faster? A P4 2.4 @ 1000 (3000) or a P4 3.0 that is already there. Or better yet... A P4 2.6 @ 1000 (3250) or a P4 3.0 @ 900 (3375). Or maybe I am just totally not understanding things... I know the FSB is important, but at what point do you start trading FSB for the CPU.

And at what point are you going to need some extra cooling?

I want to get this right because now that I am married with a kid coming I may not get to buy another computer until another 4 years out. :)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

buy the fastest cpu you can afford, it will give you a higher overclock with a lower fsb (so as not to max out the ram)
