recently bought a p4 3.6 a 5xx chip with the 1mb cache attached that sucker to a D945PSNLK intel board 160gb serial 3gbps samsung sata II drive loaded windows was installing drivers for the components and it shuts off. It proceeds to do this on reboot. All of a sudden the board wont even post for me so I decide to try to reset the cmos. After doing that it still wont post after i change the jumpers back to there normal config. Yeah so basically I have a computer that powers on and just wont post a bios screen for **** totally lost. Doesn't give me the 4 beeps for cpu I can only guess that it may be a video card I dont know anyone have any clue?
 
take out the graphic card if you want. Pull out the RAM and turn it on. If there are a bunch of beeps, then your CPU should be fine. Keep trying to eliminate the problem. If it's not beeping when your RAM is out, either it's your CPU or your motherboard. I'd run the motherboard to a friend with an LGA 775 processor and bring the CPU with you and try out your CPU on their motherboard and see if the same problem occurs. Then either RMA or buy another part if something is faulty. It sounds like your motherboard. My friend's motherboard has done the same thing. It slowly stopped posting and now he can't even figure out why it's doing that and he can't post with it either anymore. But find someone, anyone to test out your processor, motherboard, RAM, video card.
 
I doubt it. he'd hear a funky music and it'd boot for about 2 seconds before it shut off. But it could be possible.
 
yeah solved the problem today it was the shitty intel mobo so just a word of advise from an overclocker dont buy shitty intel boards even for friends who are not going to overclock :)

never heard of a shitty intel board. do you mean like a 915P chipset board or something? my friend owned a 955XE board from intel and he could overclock his PD950 to 5Ghz stable.......... watch what you say about intel boards. they're the fastest booting and one of the most stable board manufactuers on the market.
 
My Intel 915P board has never failed me from installation through 3 video cards, two CPU changes 2 ram changes... although its a locked board, it boots rather quickly (as mentioned before).
