P4 2.60 800 fsb Hyperthreading?

I am needing someone to answer a question about this chip cpuz and cpu spy report this chip to hyperthread but my board won't do it.
I am using a p4p800E deluxe mobo it is rated to p4 extreme and this chip is not doing it.

Could you clairify.. Won't do it.

Meaning that you cant enable HT in the bios. Or you can't enable HT in windows. Very Big Differenece.

You are correct however that chip does support HT.
 
Yeah it is enabled in bios and certain software says it will hyperthread but when I hit ctrl-alt-delete it only shows 1 processor in the performance tab.HELP! Does anybody have any advice? I am using 4 sticks of corsair 256 meg dual channel pc3700 memory It won't hyperthread.
 
Go to control panel, under system devices and check the computer.

Make sure it says Multiprocessor PC.

If it does then open task manager and goto view>CPU history>One graph per CPU.
 
The CPU-Z pic shows that the dropdown for processors is grayed out. I don't think it's just a check for graph error. Verify that your not having an issue with the BIOS saving the information about the processor. Also, you didn't mention what operating system you were using. I know it sounds like a stupid question, and the title bars do look like an XP window. Just checking. This just seems odd. :confused:
 
Ok when I go to control panel I see two processors under system properties but when I look at the graph I only see 1 processor.
 
i always thought the slowest clocked processor that had HT was a 2.8ghz, but I may just be wrong (it would have been 2.6 or 2.8ghz). that's weird though. Sry, i really don't have a suggestion
 
Yeah I was not aware that a northwood chip had hyperthreading but when I looked at the intel site I found I was wrong.

If anyone has any advice to enable the hyperthreading I am listening had this problem before with a prescott chip even got an rma on the board same deal it has got to be something else causing it.
 
Right click "my computer"> Hardware tab> click device manager> right click on “computer”> properties> driver tab> update driver> on the hardware update wizard, “not at this time”> next> install from a specific location> next> don’t search. I will choose the driver to install> next> chose “ACPI Multiprocessor PC” > than next and I believe all that is left is to reboot. Make sure you have HT enabled in the bios.
 
I did that but I have two processors listed there when I look it up to update it there isn't a multi processor driver listed. Is there another program that will show if this processor is hyperthreading?

There were 2.4ghz HT northwoods :) I dont remember the 2.6 being hyperthreaded though.

It may be that the "ACPI Multiprocessor PC, ACPI APIC MP HAL (Halmacpi.dll)" was never copied during the install of XP if you had HT turned off in the bios. You could try putting your Windows XP install disk in your cd drive and try installing it from there. If that does not work I am sorry to say the only other alternative would be to re install XP with HT enabled in the bios.

You said you are seeing 2 CPU in the system properties, thats leading me to believe that its,

Open task manager and goto view>CPU history>One graph per CPU.

Intel did have a 2.6c northwood HT cpu. And jackofalltrades cpu is one of those. Intel discontinued both the 2.4c and the 2.6c in late 2004. A prescott version of those cpu's was never produced. The slowest HT cpu now produced by intel is 2.8.
 
jackofalltrades, this is what you should be seeing,

Like I said, the Hal was never installed on your os installation. You can try and install it from the your windows xp installation disk or you will have to re install your os.
 
I got it working by doing a install within windows didn't want to lose some of my files it worked great!
It is hyperthreading as it is suppose to. Thanks for all the input and help.

Every 800FSB Northwood had HT.

The only 533FSB Northwood was the 3.06
