P3 500E or Cel 800?

With the Celeron 800... was that not the time at which Intel finally allowed the Celeron to run at 100MHz FSB?

If it was, then the Celeron is most likely the better choice. The PIII 500E runs at the same bus speed, but would face a 300MHz clock speed defecit. A PIII 500E may very well be at least marginally slower than the Celeron.

Yes, the Celeron 800 was the first Celeron to officially run at 100FSB. They did not overclock very well.

:p Now we're just bickering.

Well, I think we both agree that at the very least, old first-gen Prescotts were not that great in terms of heat. (We should put together a top 10 list of 'blast furnace' processors...)

Have a great weekend pxc...

I have a 2.8e Prescott and it is just fine thank you very much. 45 at idle, 55 at full tilt. Factory cooling.
