i am building:
4GB OCZ platinum 64000
6000 X2
512 8800 GTS
250GB barracuda

is my 700W OCZ gamexstream over kill for all of this? oh and i do plan on trying a phenom in the future.

There's no such thing as overkill as long as it doesn't kill your wallet. I would rather have MORE PSU than needed than LESS.

But to be honest, you could get by with a good 500w PSU and probably even the corsair 450(or whatever wattage it is).

Why?

You already have the PSU and it's resale value isn't what a decent smaller wattage one would be so why worry about it?

But you already have it. To buy a lower wattage replacement that's half way decent is going to cost you about $60 to $100. You'd be lucky to get $50 for a used OCZ.
