Overkill with an 850

So I picked up an 850W power supply cause it was on sale. and its what I thought I needed. So how much energy am I wasting because the with 850 I could could of probably been done with a 650W.

4 GB ram
HIS 4870 1GB
1-2 Hard drives (no more than 1 sata and I Parrallel
1-2 DVD/DVD Burner Drives
and a few Fans

Your system is below the peak efficiency zone of the PSU, but it's definitely over 80% efficient at the loads you're putting on it. You aren't wasting very much power.
 
You could run that set up with a Corsair HX520. I bet you wouldnt load more than 375 watts with all that. I would sell it and get something more appropriate, or pick up a couple of 4870x2's :D
 
You are not really wasting any appreciable amount of electricity, you just have enormous future capacity.
