Hey guys,

I have a Shuttle ST61G4 with a 3GHZ P4, 512MB Crucial PC3200, a 40GB ATA/100 HDD, and a 9800 Pro. Often when playing games, the system locks up. Monitor stays on, I just cant do anything and have to reset it. Any ideas as to how to fix this?
 
have you removed the grill on the back of the system? that increases air flow a whole lot.

(use a dremel and remove everythign in the case so you dont get metal shards all over them)

im assuming : ur not overclocking, and have all the newest drivers for ur hardware, if that is so

heat would be my next guess. , the most effective cooling mod ive done to my shuttle has been the 80>120mm conversion with an enermax 120mm fan. it mounts externally in ther rear. it works great and isnt too loud. and cutting out the restrictive rear grill (behind the ice radiator). . that combo should knock off 7c or more on the idle and load temps. .

with NO mods on my sn45g (sig puter), i used to idle @ 52c bone stock at 3200+ speeds@ 1.65v, and load was around 56-58c...

after i cut out the rear grill, 120mm external fan mod, mounted a small 60mm fan under the hard drive pointing towards the NB and part of the heatsink, cut out the side vents on the side, now im @ 2.4ghz w/ 1.75v , case- 34c , idle - 38c, -=-=--=- case-36c- , load - 49c

Is there any way to change the fan without cutting anything off with a dremel? I dont feel very comfortable cutting things on my system :confused: :)
