BitFenix Spector fans are very good quality. I'd recommend them if you need replacements.
Do the screw holes match though?

Ok I understand that my whole setup is pretty much trash at the moment. The PSU I have now is pretty decent. It's a 550w and should hold its own till I get a better setup. I just don't understand the point of buying a low end case and a bad HSF will do for me. Basically as I've mentioned, I have a $300 budget and I want to buy stuff that will be used on my future build later. Simply saying the the Hyper 212 is too much for my bad CPU doesn't make sense since it will be used on my next build. Also buying a $50 or less case seems like a waste as it would most likely be replaced on my new build.
I would just like to get the most I can now so it's less I have to get later on you know? I'm not only trying to solve my overheating issue but also take a step torwards my next build and buying future proof stuff like a decent case.
Why would getting a good big case be a terrible idea for my bad parts? I do plan on replacing them. If this is truly a bad move then what's the best thing for me to do with a $300 budget?
No, the Hyper 212 isn't better than the Corsair, it's on par or slightly worse. It also doesn't include LGA775 hold-down hardware, so it is incompatible with your current system. For these reasons you should not buy it. Period. I'm not suggesting you get a worse HSF, I'm suggesting you get one that will work.
With a quality 550w PSU I'd recommend you get a nice HSF like the Corsair, a cheaper case, and a new GPU. I ran dual 4890s on a Q6600 system and it ran 90% of what I can now, so a better GPU is not completely wasted and can be moved over when you rebuild. No reason to go full tower unless you think you'll end up with multi-GPU and lots of HDDs, otherwise you're just wasting space, airflow can actually be /better/ in smaller cases due to higher maintained pressure. I recommend a used Radeon 6950 2GB -- they're very powerful cards and can be had for $150 or so now. $35 for HSF, $150 for GPU, leaves you with about $120 for a nice case. There are tons of great optiions in that price range.
Hmm that does sound promising. I can't seem to find a 6950 for less than $230 though. As for the heatsink, I was talking about what Stratosrally was saying when he suggested the other PSU and HSF. I will strongly consider going that route on the corsair HSF though. I didn't know The hyper 212 doesn't come with the hardware for the LGA 775. Newegg says it supports the 775 so I guess I just assumed since it says it's compatible that it would work. Also the reviews on the 212 Werner very good as well.
Maybe getting a cheaper case, HSF, and a new GPU would be the best bet. Just to add to this...I think my 7950GT gave out today as well.

I'm almost in awe of whatever the heck you're doing with that "statue" (of what, exactly?) keeping pressure on the CPU because it has no thermal paste. I think we all deserve a picture of that posted here for all to see!![]()
When I bought the system, it's always had heating problems. Then A few months later my 80mm fans broke because I dusted everything out and the fans started rubbing making a very obnoxious noise and I went all phsyco on them. At that same time I removed the HSF and cleaned off the crazy dust that was caked on it. I kind of knew that I had to replace the thermal paste on the CPU but it was too late so I left the old paste on. By doing that it must have left air pockets or something. One of the HSF clips which are plastic...bent when trying to reinstall it as well so I don't think it fully seated. While playing LoL i started to lag the longer I played to unplayable FPS. I reached down and applied pressure to the HSF and it was like magic...my FPS skyrocketed from me pushing down on it....so I wanted to find somehing heavy to put on top of he HSF and the only thing I could find was this plaque statue I got from PCSing from my old base. The base is made from solid marble and it weight about 10lbs easy.
Here is my sad current setup:

My videocard is not currently installed because it overheated last night and the fan died so im trying to figure out what to do with that now..
Think it's an old Antec / Chieftech case. Not surprised if you saw it used by Dell, they OEM'd for a ton of different companies back in the day.
Gotta throw a shot in there for my 500R. Looks great, built great, plenty of features and tons of cooling options and its not too big.
Not at all worth spending money on either of those cards, particularly if all you play is Minecraft and LoL. Just drop a few settings and save yourself the cash toward your next upgrade. I doubt you'll notice a /huge/ difference between the two, but the 7800 is slower. Both are dog slow by today's standards though, but luckily both games you play are not very demanding.
I'd grab a $50-150 case you'll be happy with when you rebuild and call it a day for now. Maybe get a stronger GPU with the remainder of your budget if the 7800 doesn't cut it for you.
I just checked to see if there was a microcenter near by and the closest one is in Texas (I live in the middle of New Mexico) so that sucks..
