Overclocking noob

Until it gets too hot :p Just keep pushing it until the temperature goes too high for your comfort.
 
What I know about overclocking is that you should know how high your processor can go before you actually overclock it. So does anyone have at least a general idea?
 
3800 should get somewhere in the range of 2.4 - 2.6 Ghz with the stock cooler. You will will want to run prime95 or some other stress testing program to make sure its stable. You will want to measure your temp while you are stress testing as well.
 
not to bust up your thread but what is the name of the program that I see ever one with AMD cpus useing to OC from windows? Its not clockgen i dont think.
 
I want to overclock my amd athlon 3800+ but i dont know how i have a rs482-m motherboard..can someone please help me
