Ok, as the title states, I need some advice. My current setup is this:
Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3
AMD 64 X2 4000+ @ 2.4 ghz currently
2 x 1gig G.Skill DDR2 800 in dual channel
XFX 8600GT
120gig WD SATA 150 (40 gig to C/ 80 gig to D)
LiteOn DVDRW SATA
DangerDen MC-TDX w/ Enhiem 1250, older two pass rad, DD 5 1/4" drive bay res.
Right now I'm only doing a modest overclock, just put this system together a few months ago and wanted to get everything settled before I started pushing it. Here is where I had questions. I've been out of the overclocking loop for a while, my last system lasted 4 years (AMD Barton 2500 @ 2.2 ghz) so I've not kept up with recent cpu's and how they overclock. I understand the basics, but since the memory controller is now on die with the CPU, when I overclock it does it also overclock the memory? Like an idiot I bought DDR2 800 memory instead of something higher and I don't know how far I can push this memory.
