ok i have a stick of AMD DDR-SDRAM PC2700-512 mb. i went into my BIOS to overclock my dated athlon 1700 xp and it said in my bios that i need to make sure that my memory has max 333 mhz or something. i tried it anyway and everything seems to work fine .the core speed now runs at 1833.1 mhz which was the highest auto setting in the bios(how fast is that in GHz and what processor does it compare up to)?. the fsb is 166MHz andbus speed is at 333.3MHz is this safe for the type of memory i have? and also my voltage is running at about 1.648...is this too low? because once in a while my voltageand cpu fan alarms go off on my Asus a7v333 mobo probe thing. also my temps for the cpy run at about 44c/111f when it is idle...is this still a safe temp?

1833mhz = 1.83 GHz

Yes it is safe.... could bump the voltage up a bit in your bios....

Temps are fine...

Believe 1.83 is somewhere around 2200+ I forget.

Everything seems fine. Like he said, 1000 mhZ is 1 ghZ, so 1833.1 mhZ is 1.8331 ghZ.

Memory and FSB speed settings are perfect.

1.83 ghZ is abound the same clock speed as the 2500+ processor, however your processor probably has less cache, so yeah, I'd say around 2200+.

Voltage is fine.

Idle temps are fine, however you'll want to find your load temp to be sure (the temp of the processor under 100% cpu usage).

Make sure you stress test it to ensure it is stable. Download prime95 (google it) and run the inplace FFT torture test for at least 12 hours straight. Make sure it doesn't come up with any errors, and make sure that during this test your CPU temp doesn't rise above around 55 or 60 C.

If all seems well at this point, you're good to go! :)
