funny you mention that it has been happening with me for Outlook 2003 and my gmail account. I just put in the information and it works for a few more hours.

Sometimes gmail does this even with thunderbird. I dont know why, just a quirk. It will usually happen for a few hours or days, then be fine for a long time and then just start randomly doing it for awhile again.

I get this when using Opera's built-in mail client with Gmail IMAP. Works fine for a long time and then acts up every once and a while.
