I just ordered a new Maxtor 200GB ATA133 w/ 16MB cache for zipzoomfly.com. Must say that I liked the selection and price (+ free FedEx 2day), but their website design left something to be desired. I guess that is a good thing though, because it they had a really slick site it means that they paid a lot for it, which means they're making too much money, thus I paid too much.

Anyway, this is going in my xbox to replace a 40GB Seagate that I have in it currently. I'm really excited, but nervous at the same time as I've always been very leary of Maxtor. But hey, for $98 shipped I couldn't beat the price.

Good pickup. Maxtor has been good to me. Others here have it die on them. Good Luck. I just ordered a WD 320gb hdd for $140. Can't wait.

I know that shopping on ZZF is almost painful - if you don't know what to search for, you'll never find it. However, they're ace on selection, price, and shipping, so they get my hard drive business. A lot of times, I will shop on Newegg then buy on ZZF :p

by the way....got my WD at Monarchcomputers.com. I find their prices competitive and they offer quick shipping service just like newegg and ZZF. But as a CA resident, i don't have to pay tax and most of the products at Monarch ships free. No tax is always great. :)

Yeah that's basicly what I did. I'm hoping this works out well. Maxtor has always kinda scared me as they've been basicly on the verge of going under for many years which makes me leary of their quality control and tolerances. Well I hope that they prove me wrong, I have high hopes.

Maxtor has been much better off since their acquisition of Quantum's hard drive division. It gave them a solid enterprise brand (Atlas) and some fresh talent that designed the Fireball line. Maxtor has been much improved since, although they have had some duds like the slimline drives.
