I need to know which of these ram sticks would work better with my system. I am looking for a good solid overclock (high fsb with hopefully 2-2-2-5 timings or close to that)

yes, but once I save up some more money to get the 2nd 6800GT

Then you will probably want ot look at a different PSU. The Modstream is good but it is only an ATX12v1.3 supply and not SLI rated. While some non-sli rated PSU's will run SLI it is not the best bet.

if you can recommend a PSU for under $150 that uses modular cables and has them sleeved that would be great.

That will run that in SLI. They aren't any that I would recommend. The closest to doing it is the Antec Neopower's which are supposedly coming sleeved now. I have seen them power two 6800GT's when the rest of the system is kept to a minimum....but you are taking your chances.

okay, well I think I will probably stay with my modstream and when I get the money for the second card (I may think about upgrading again by then) and get a new power supply at the same time.

Pretty similar system to waht I plan to build in a month, good picks!

As far as ram, i'd save $ and go with the TwinMOS since with A64 you can just drop the divider and not worry much, Eclipse has a bunch of stickys related to that.

that board doesnt do well with kingston ram. or anything hynx at least from what ive seen. ocz is popular with that board .

I also wouldnt be quite sure how much higher over stock (400 mhz) of the pc-3200 you are going to get it to go with 2-2-2-5 timings... Unless you put like 3 volts into it or something, in which case it would probably fry anyways. Usually that tightly timed ram is really good for one thing, nice timings. Which go well with a64 systems. Once you start bumping up the mhz though the timings will probably also have to go up pretty quickly. If only BH-5 was still in production... :(

If you're going to buy a Raptor, buy the 74 GB version.

The 36 GB version is much slower (not much faster than the best 7200 RPM drives, actually), louder, and hotter in operation when compared to its 74 GB sibling. In short, it's a big mess, but what do you expect from a first-generation drive? I make it a point to buy second-generation or later products when it comes to critical areas like data storage--I'd advise you to do the same.

any idea when it will be released? From what I have read on a speed test, I think by anantech that the 36 has the faster speed/seek times than the 74, but that is probably only because it holds less data.

I am pretty sure that either of the RAM I would have chosen for the system likes taking a bit of extra voltage (which the DFI loves to give out) and should yield a pretty decent overclock. It would be nice though if I could get some of the old-school BH-5 though.

this probly isnt the right place to put this but if you want bh5 chips i have 1gig of corsair xms platinum pc3500 2x512mb stick bh5 winbond chip pm me if your interested
