opening up a TV

This isn't really a computer display question. But a friend got a VHS stuck in my TV and I was wondering if it was ok to open the darn thing up and whether there were any risks or precautions. Just wondering because I heard that with a CRT that's generally a no go.

A vacuum tube in which a hot cathode emits electrons that are accelerated as a beam through a relatively high voltage anode, further focused or deflected electrostatically or electromagnetically, and allowed to fall on a phosphorescent screen.

I did open my old CRT monitor... But before I took on a project like that I read up on the subject.

If you do decide to open up your CRT, wear protective gloves, & safety glasses...


Word to wise, dont break the CRT screen.. Use common sense, and you'll be alright..
