ok im finally to the point in my life when i want to go back to school, tired of dealing poker and i just want to work with computers full time. problem is i dont have the time for full time schooling, nor do i know what field i should get into. so i was hoping some of you with computer related jobs could help me out a little by suggesting some things. i was thinking about starting with mcse cert, maybe Cisco VPN Cert or CCNP. the main thing is i need to find a place where i can get these certs online so some suggestions of places to go would be awesome, any type of training i already have funding for so money is no object, i just want get working... any reasonable suggestions are greatly appriciated. thankx guyz
 
I dont know about many online ones but here in San Diego theres a TV add for some place called Smart Certify Direct thats all online based. not sure if its any good but might as well look at it and see if fits what you want. also I would start with something like the A+ and not go right to MCSE, its an easy cert and IMO doesnt hurt to have. Also you will have to get your CCNA before CCNP ( I think). I have my CCNA and may one day get a CCNP. I also have MCSE, N+ and A+. They arent really heling me at this point as the market sucks in San Diego right now so Im just doing tech work at the moment.
 
Your best route is to buy some good books and go through them yourself. That way you will get good hands-on experience while you do it. If you don't have any professional experience working with computers, the certifications are not going to be easy.

You may also want to start with a cert that isn't quite as demanding. Go for your A+ cert, if you can't do that, then you'll know the other ones are way out of reach. ;)
