Ok i have just upgraded my computer, seeing now fully why the nforce2 Sound Storm Apu was so loved .I currently have an asrock 939dual the on board sound is Horrid. i mean my god i want literally kill myself cause it is that bad. Why in gods name do motherboard makers put such crappy sound solutions on their boards. Nv should make a sound card it would rock

Yeah they don't sound very good. That is why most of us use add-in PCI soundcards.;)

My onboard soundcard is fine. Outputs bit-perfect digital audio.

Can't get any better than that.

Some on board solutions suck, and some are good... Gotta read the reviews b4 you buy.. You can pick up an Audigy2ZS for next to nothing theses days...

i am definitely picking up a pci sound card more than likely a Audigy SE 7.1 and hold my nuts till the official replacement for the sound storm comes out (the Xfi card with DDL :)). i really expected there to be sound storm like solutions in terms of quality would be the standard by now. My main thing is why put a crap audio solution on any motherboard? and how much would a quality onboard audio chip cost

Most people avoid the Audigy SE. The X-fi Prelude if this is the model your refering to should be out in a month or so. Should also note though Auznetech doesn't release any product until it's perfect. so we may have wait a little longer for the product to hit the streets. Be nice if more companies followed that example.

On the K8N plat in your sig?

Sorry but i noticed a HUGE difference when i moved to a x-fi extreme music, the onboard was ok at best.

i used to always get a sound card back when i first started building comps in '01, but as for my last 3 builds, i have used the onboard sound and haven't had any complaints. currently i have a 5-piece altec lansing surround sound system plugged into my mobo and it sounds just fine. me and fryguy have the same mobo, rock on dude!

on board works for me but the feedback and the noises coming from my speakers is HORRID i literally wanted to kill myself when it was setup and i plugged in my speakers. Why in gods name is there not sound storm like solutions for all onboard sound perhaps kyle could look into it yes/no?
