onboard audio..on a slower machine.....

intel pentium 3 500mhz
256mb ram
geforce4 mx440
10gig 7200 rpm HD

ok it has onboard audio...but i have a yamaha PCI soundcard lying around....should i disable onboard audio to save cpu cycles and ram...i heard running onboard audio uses more processor power than a PCI soundcard.....should i use the PCI soundcard over onboard audio?
