Onboard Audio Static / Interference - On Multiple MOBOs in Same Case

So as the title alludes, I have had problems with my onboard audio for some time. I figured it was my old x58 motherboard and I didn't think too much about it. But now I am really annoyed I just upgraded to LGA 1150 and the new motherboard has the same hissing and static with the onboard audio. It's a new PSU also. So the case and surrounding environment is the only constant I can see.

If I buy a discrete card am I likely to have the same problem?

I'd go with an external powered DAC personally. If your motherboard has a toslink optical out that'll eliminate any noise generated by the PC and it's components or a DAC with balanced outs (but they're usually expensive).
 
I have yet to see an onboard solution without audible hiss and noise through speakers or headphone amps. They're ok for earbuds and that's about it.

I'd agree on going the external route, but any decent sound card or USB dac should fix the problem.
