I'm currently employed full time but I'd like to start looking for side work. Would anyone have any recommendations as to how to proceed?

eg. are there good websites to find local consulting jobs, what rates I should be asking for, websites aimed at helping consulting n00b's start out, etc.?

the guys over at http://www.technibble.com/ have a lot of helpful info for starting out doing side repair jobs or turning it into a full time career.. you always have to be on your toes though with some people and their computer systems.

yeah, thing is, I'm aiming for more of a SMB consultant. I've done the whole "I'll repair your computer and clean your viruses" bit for over 10 years (mostly in a retail environment) and I'm ready to move my focus away from that. Thanks for the link though, I'm sure someone can use it :D

Work on word of mouth and referrals, try to attend some local chamber events, and try to find someone to bring you as a guest to some local BNI chapters.
