Hey I have a toshiba satellite laptop and I was wondering is there a certain video card I have to buy to show videos from my laptop on to my computer. I video edit home video on my PC *emachines* and sometimes save the .avi or mpeg and watch them on my laptop hence it has a flat screen to how good it shows.

But I thought it would be easier and time saving to show them from my laptop computer onto the tv instead of burning a dvd all the time. Is it impossible to put a video card into the lap or it requires an adapter?

uh, good luck finding a vid card for a laptop. They are NOT like desktops... they have a special vid card... IF it is upgradible at all... In most cases the video is integrated into the northbridge of the chipset in the laptop. Few (VERY few) laptops allow for vid upgrade.
So, my suggestion is this - look around and find a video system you like for a laptop (ati 9600/9700 for example) and buy the laptop that comes with - sorry that seems the only way to do that...
Give the specs of the lappy, and mebbe it has the umph needed...

Hey thanks for replying...

I have a Toshiba Satelitte 2405-s221

1.6ghz .. 256MB Ram .Windows XP Pro. and in the back of it .. it has like a yellow input or output spot ya know thats in the back of the tv.. .. When I right click on the desktop and go to properties and the settings my video has Dual Montoring options and it has a tv option in there somewhere.. Is it already made for tv?

well if its got a composite or s-vid output on it all you need to do is plug in the cables and enable dual display...normally in advanced options under the display properties, not too hard

haha .. thats cool I didnt notice it could do that.. thanks

I just tried it on a 36 inch tv and a 51 inch tv .. ... and on the LCD screen of the laptop it fitted perfectly and etc.. on the tvs the screen seemed to be to big and it scrolled over a little .. I tryed to mess with the settings to fix it .. is there anway to do that? .. Also I can only hear audio from the laptop is there a way to change that also?

change the resolution on the tv out to match the tv's native resolution, they are not computer screens and dont change to fit your res. if the res is too big, they will be in pan-and-scan mode which means that youw ill have to scroll to see all your desktop, just play with resoltions. as for audio, if there is a line out jack on your laptop connect a mini plug(like headphones) with some RCA jacks on the end(the red and white ones) or if you have a digital audio jack, go that route, either way, you can plug your desired cable into the tv or a/v reciver and have a HTPC(home theater pc). hope this helped!

ok cool.. Thanks that works.. But when I try to play a video it lags and go slows .. should I update my drivers .. I did before my reformat which wasnt to long ago..

thats got something to do with the overlay mode(i think, correct me if im wrong) and i dont know what exactly to do, i think you enable it to make that go away, but im not sure. fiddle with it and see if it works
