I set up my legacy rig with Windows 98 SE with all the latest updates but there is a major issue I cannot seem to fix. Every couple of minutes or so the system will just freeze, usually when browsing the internet, but it also happens sometimes by just clicking on anything(like clicking on properties in the device manager).
It will run Prime95 for hours on end with no errors so the CPU/RAM/Mobo are fine it appears. There are no IRQ confilcts. I am stumped and I have no idea what to do. Here are the system specs:
Pentium 2 450mhz
ASUS P2B latest BIOS
128MB Samsung 3-2-2-10 RAM
nVidia GeForce 2 GTS 32MB latest drivers
2x Canopus Pure3d IIs latest drivers
Sound Blaster Audigy latest drivers
8GB Western Digital HD
I am thinking it might be the hard drive crashing or something of the like, but I don't have any other HDs to work with. Anyone have experience with this kind of stuff?
