Can I replace an old Ultra "DMA"100 hdd with an Ultra "ATA"100 hdd? Will it work?
I'm replacing an old machine with a new one. I want to put a new hdd in the old boxen and give it to my niece and nephew.

Yep, no problems. DMA is Direct Memory Access, which allows it to transfer faster; it's supported by all modern drives (last 7 years or so). ATA is the name of the IDE standard.
