Oddball problem while installing new processor

I received a 2.4C that I bought off of here today that was heatspreaderless. I put it in, no POST. I thought I might have killed it, so I removed it and checked it out, and it looks fine. I took out my value RAM so I could do some benchmarking if it worked, and voila, it posts and in 15 seconds, it's a 3.6 ghz processor. I put the value RAM back in, and no POST. Any idea what might be going on here?

I don't think I had the RAM in the slots tight enough. I was trying to install it with the system sitting upright. When I took it off the table and put it in with the mobo laying down, it registered fine.
