I want to get a couple UPS's to cover my fish tanks. We been having a lot of problems with the power in my area, we've been losing power a lot, so I would like to get some battery backups for my fish filters, so there is nothing to have to worry about when the power goes out.
Now to my question. I know the filter's motor is using at most 15 watts. according to the book. I am trying to figure out runtimes on different UPS's. but im not sure if running the UPS with such a low load will do hurt the UPS etc. And since most UPS's are listed @ a computer load, how would you go about figuring how how long the UPS would last with only a 15 watt or under load on it while on battery.
Also since I really dont care about the protection part of the UPS, would say a UPS from a big brand vs a ups form a generic be the same for what I need it for? or will the runtimes be different even with same specs?
Thanks in advance for the help
