I have all the parts for my build but no case until more come in stock at the end of the month. I figured in the mean time I could wire up some of my fans but I recall someone saying their fans didnt like having only 1 rpm wire for 3 fans wired together. so I wanted to test it on mine and see how they work... how could I go about using just the PSU to power up my fan controller to test it out?
 
1. Have switch on back turned off or unplug the PSU from the wall
2. Unfold a paperclip.
3. Stick one end into the green wire of the ATX plug.
4. Stick other end into any black wire of the ATX plug.
5. Turn on or plug in PSU
 
Yes, you need to use this quite often when testing water setups. I usually use a regular piece of insulated wire to connect the green (only one there) and a black wire (usually right next to it).
That's it, you just plug up whatever you want to have power.
