If I go to overclock my ATI RADEON 9800 pro 256mb, and lock teh agp/pci ratio, is there any chance of frying my card.
 
not if you change the heatsink and fan and also RAMsink the RAMs. Otherwise, you might have a died vid card
 
but why would it fry, i thought if i had the agp/pci lock on no more voltage would be pumped into the card, therefore no chance of frying it.
 
it will fry if you go too high too quickly. if you are going to overclock, then do it gradually. do the core and memory clock seperately. stepup the core speed and test it, then if it is stable then go higher until you reach a point where you get artifacting(white dots or weirds things happen). after you have a stable clock speed on the core then do the same with the memory and you should be fine. a good game to test an overclock on is doom 3. use 3dmark03 also and check for artifacting. if you are smart about overclocking then youll never fry your card.
 
OC'ing will cause more heat to be generated, if you don't get the heat out, then your'll fry the vid card. Even when you OC to a point where there is no artifacts, the heat will accumilate and cause artifacts to happen after a few minutes to few hours.

Your a little confused. The agp lock is for OC'ing your cpu/fsb, so that you don't over volt your pci/agp slots. It really has nothing to do with OC'ing your video card. Oc'ing your video card is done directly with the card and not through the mobo bios.

There is always a chance of 'frying' something when you OC. Just do some research on what you'd like to do. Follow the advice/instructions you get from your research and you should be fine.
