hey guys i just bought a 2500+ mobile amd and an ASUS A7N8X-X nForce2 400. what would be the best way to OC it?
 
i know that but i meant what should i put FSB to....should i mess with the voltage...stuff like that
 
When I got my 2400+m the first thing I tried was 200 fsb x 11 multiplier. Just be safe and monitor temps.
 
200 by 11 is a pretty good place to start keep uping fsb and voltages till u hit a barrier then if u want u can play with ur multi but make sure u turn down ur fsb first. Also once u hit a certain point u need to start messin with ur ram timings to tighten or lax them according to what u are doing
 
What kind of heatsink and fan are you using to cool it?

I have a Thermalright SLK 800U and a panaflow cooling my 2500 XP-M.
I can run it at 2.0v at 13X200 just to give you an idea. Not saying taht you should do that off the back because this ( 13X200 ) is not stable, I'm just letting you know its potential. Keep the temps under 55c to be on the safe side. See my sig. Hope this helps you.
 
im using antek water cooling with a 5.25" water res.
this should be more than enough for OCing...
 
Well, since your using pc2100 memory, and a whole gig of it, its gonna be kinda difficult for you work with the fsb. Your going to have to work with the high multipliers then unless you know you have head room with the memory. A good start would be to try and get 2.2ghz stable for you. To hit 2.2, I had to slightly increase my voltage from stock, so you may have to also. 16.5 x 133 = 2194.5mhz

what he misses is you can run async fsb and ram, i have my PC2700 (166 mhz) running at that speed with a 200 mhz FSB (83%)

But by running your memory async to the FSB you get a significant performance drop. I think it would actually be better to stick with 133mhz FSB then run the memory async.
 
i am running my pc3400 at 333 becasue my IGP and sound gets weird at 200... i was able to get my bus to 120 and run my ram at 240.. but that was just dumb.. and my multi was maxed out at 20...

long story short... run the ram 1:1.. synchronously... don't run async unless you are running intel or an amd64

like kako said.. 15.5 x 133.. the 2.2 ghz range should be no problem for you..
 
im not real into all the technical stuff..so i don't quite know what yall are talking about async and 1:1 ram
 
running your ram at 200 and your cpu at 166 is async... make sure your ram is running at the same speed as the bus of your processor..

in your case, i wouldn't run your ram faster than 133, becasue that is all it is rated for.. so you should also run the bus of your processor at 133 instead of 166 or 200 becasue the latter to will decrease memory performance... your multiplier is unlocked so you can easily use 133 and still get a high clock speed..
