Hey guys, this is the first time I actually went all out and OC'ed something ]-[ardcore....so I need some help heh. I have a EVGA 6800gt, voltmodded to 1.4V 3d voltage, NV silncer 5, AS5 on the GPU, silicone paste on the RAM (AS5 didnt work well on the RAM)...now this is where I need help. After all was said and done, my card autodetects at 436/1160 mem...VERY good, but it cannot run those settings. I have to downclock it to 417/1140 to get it 100% stable. My goal is to reach the detected clocks with 100% stability.
So I need some troubleshooting help from you experts!! When I play a game in those settings, such as far cry, it will run well for 5 mins and then get a 10-20 second freeze screen with a BRRRRRRRR sound....Now I know this is not a heat issue since my card does not reach more than 72 core with RTHDRIBL.
I have tried disabling fast writes, and setting aperature size to 32megs, but nothing helped...This is what I am thinking, 2 possiblities...
1)NV silencer is not making good contact with one of the RAM modules, causing one to overheat. I had A LOT of problems making my silencer make good contact with the card and the ram.
2)I have a "generic" PSU...I bought an ASPIRE 520W PSU, which seems to be ok. The reviews were Mixed, some great, some say it sucks...so maybe its the PSU providing unstable voltage??? In the bios it shows 11.79 for the 12V rail. So maybe this is it.
Please, ANY advice to narrow my search for the possible cause...or any general experiences in this would great. Thanks in advance.
