oc'd average expectancy

what would you say the average life of an oc'd cpu is? I have a D 940 and just want to to keep it @ about 3.5 ghz. but dont wana keep buying new gear every 6 months. I'm new to it all, but i got'a start somewhere. All advice appreciated, Thnx

I've had my P4C 2.4 @ atleast 3.0 GHz for over 3 years now and it's still going strong.

Depends on what voltage, how hot it gets at idle/load and what processor. There isn't a real "average life," because CPUs vary greatly.
